ComputerWorld has released their top 100 best places to work in IT
for 2007.

This perennial list goes a long way in establishing who are the best
companies to work for, Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, and a bunch of
other technology perennials is not on this list.

That is the surprising part, and maybe a little shine has gone out
of working in the mega corp.

The other striking thing about the entry is the use of Family, and
the use of Work Life balance, where people want to work in a nice
family environment, and they do not want to work 90 hours a week,
they want to work, and they want to know their kids, spouses, and
others that are important in their life.

This is a major change in how the differentiator about what makes
a great place to work, and what does not starts showing through.

Everyone wants something cool to work on, neat projects that have
benefit to others, where IT and Business are aligned, and the
reason why people are there is well known to everyone in the
company.

This is a great change in how people perceive IT, and the work
loads that people want out of IT. And it means that the age of
people in the back room is drawing to a close.

regulatory reason why a project is undertaken.

The convergence of IT and Business means that the reason that IT
does things has to make sense to business managers.

It is interesting to note who they are, and who is missing from
this particular list.

While other lists will come out that sing the praises of Google,

Maybe settling down and just having some fun at work, working

they are going is an important aspect of job satisfaction.
